Image from http://www.origamirehab.org/serving-americas-heroes A big thanks from ARN to those who took the time to contact members of Congress regarding the extension of the Assisted Living Pilot Program for Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). On Thursday, July 31, 2014 the Senate passed a bill which included $46 billion to the Department of Veterans Affairs and a three year extension to the program. The Assisted Living-TBI Extension Act authorizes the continuation of a critical VA program that provides intensive care and rehabilitation to veterans with complex brain injuries. Assisted Living-TBI consists of community-based residential/transitional rehabilitation programs around the country in which veterans are immersed in therapies for movement, memory, speech, and gradual community reintegration.
